TECHNOLOGY IN FOREIGN AND SECOND LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION
-in this principle, a teacher is implementing TPACK principles when he or she makes the lesson plan, and does not think with hesitation about the content and principles
-also considers pedagogy along with technology
-thinks of marriage of information and achievement

PROBLEMS OF PRACTICE IN SECOND AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION
-problem when target language in most spoken in other countries
-English language learner have much opportunity to learn how to speak the language they are learning compared to majority language from where they are from
-English as a second language is matter of importance to the learner, however it is not crucial

COMPARING PROBLEMS IN  ESL TEACHING AND LEARNING
-DEVELOPING ACADEMIC LANGUAGE AND BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE
-  common goal among k-12 esl  to enhance the students background knowledge so they can participate in the classroom
-also important for esl learners to read text designated in the English language
-DIFFERENTIATING INSTRUCTION
-teachers need to deliver instruction across a wide range of range of proficiency levels
-oral and written language practice programs are nice
-INTEGRATING THE STUDENTS NATIVE LANGUAGES
-efforts to prepare for mainstream class in English often  require building background knowledge in the content area so that when confronted with grade level material students will have acquired enough language by the beginning
-technology can assist teachers in using the students native language

COMMON PROBLEMS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROGRAMS
-authentic materials, authentic perspectives - it is common for nonnative speakers of the language they teach
- often unusal to see them spend unusual amount of time in a native speaking place
CREATING AUDIENCE AND PURPOSE
- often tough to find place where to build an audience
-there are also many new technologies tools out there that create oppurtunities for distributed language learning (DLL)

TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION STRATIGIES FOE ESL AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION
- computer-assisted language learning (CLL)
- had made great strides in offering students new ways to enhance their speaking and listening

SUPPORT FOR AUTHENTIC ORAL LANGUAGE PRACTICE AND ASSESSMENT
-multimedia software and interactive storybooks- these technologies are designed to support language acquisition and vocabulary development and have many strengths.
-learning games on handheld computers
-language tools
-Radio broadcasts and podcasts
